Imagine hanging out with other MCTC students for no academic reason. You look great because you just finished working out at the MCTC fitness center. Once the new Helland Center is completed, this will be a reality.

As part of leadership week, Student Body President T.J. Malaskee addressed the students in a school-wide address. Today we find ourselves in a climate of changing priorities. But as students, where do those changing priorities find us? When many of us were infants, a college student could afford to pay tuition and a large portion of their living expenses working 12 hours a week on minimum wage.

On August 20, 2009, MCTC was given the pleasure of hosting US Senator Amy Klobuchar in a round table discussion of the new post-9/11 GI Bill, which she co-sponsored. Senator Klobuchar addressed six of MCTC student veterans who shared their experience with balancing active duty and pursuing higher education on the home front.

It was the first day of school and Alan Miller’s new students couldn’t muster much excitement for the syllabus. Sure, film history sounded like an entertaining enough alternative, but building up enthusiasm for a community college film program wasn’t proving to be an easy sell to the incoming class.

In 2007, Alex Merritt was being harassed for his perceived sexual orientation. In and of itself, that situation is not entirely uncommon. The twist in this situation is that Alex Merritt was being harassed not by fellow students, but by some of his teachers.
