
Two MCTC students were elected to positions within the Minnesota State College Student Association (MSCSA), the lobby group for two-year and technical colleges in Minnesota, during its spring general assembly in Brainerd. While the positions that Dittberner and Askew carry within MSCSA provide no direct or specific benefit to MCTC, according to Dittberner their new roles mean that “we [MCTC] develop strong leaders and provide that to MSCSA.

The Walker Art Center presents a “Regis Dialogue and Retrospective,” showcasing the work of independent filmmaker Kelly Reichardt. The event takes place May 5 through May 14. The Regis Dialogue and Film Retrospective program portrays the work of contemporary film- makers with critics, writers, and historians.

Director Derrick Borte caught me completely off guard with his new film “The Joneses.” The film stars David Duchovny as Steve Jones, father to a fake family employed by a large capitalist organization that moves people into suburban neighborhoods to create new fads and sell products.

Tim Burton was destined to direct a take on Lewis Carroll’s story of “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland”, and “Through the Looking Glass.” His mastery over creating fantastical environments has made him a great candidate for this undertaking, and he delivered in a phenomenal way.

Although Roman Polanski is being rightfully torn limb from limb in the media as of late, one might still feel an inkling to see his new film “Ghost Writer” for any number of reasons. Polanski himself can be found on any tabloid or news website regarding his extradition to the United States for the alleged rape and brutalizing of a young girl from several decades ago.
