Students gathered at the T Plaza Sept. 10 for MCTC’s 4th Job Bank Expo. The event featured local companies tabling for prospective employees.
“The goal is to get the students friendly employment,” Career Services Director Dionna Jones said.
Some of the companies involved were Guaranty Bank, Chipotle, and the Mall of America. UPS, who sponsored the event, hired 40 students from MCTC in 2012.
Students looking for a work study job also had the opportunity to talk to work study staff.
“Most students don’t know how to get a work study job,” Jones said. “This helps them understand the process.”
For students looking for a job protecting the environment, there was Cleanwater Action.
“We have part-time and full-time positions. We’re looking for people who are passionate about the environment,” said Rayna Bergan, current MCTC student and Cleanwater Action employee.
Students also got to enjoy free cotton candy and snow cones, along with food from the participating companies.
MCTC hosts a Job Bank Expo every semester.
