Collegiate Recovery Program proposed in front of MCTC student senate

Dr. Jonathan Lofgren gave a presentation in front of the student senate general assembly on October 5th proposing to implement a collegiate recovery program on MCTC campus.

Citing that schools with some sort of program for people in recovery have been very successful at nearby schools, most notably Augsburg, he believes his program would be beneficial to students in recovery for drug abuse and alcoholism or for those who are seeking help.

He stated that about 1/3 of the student body have substance use and/or mental health disorders which may attribute towards up to 40% of MCTC student attrition. Dr. Lofgren is currently on a sabbatical to learn more about what is working for other schools around the country who are implementing these sorts of programs.
