For 46 years, City College News has been serving the student body of Minneapolis
Community and Technical College through its coverage of campus events, issues
and people. Through many changes in administration, faculty, newspaper staff and
technology, CCN has maintained its commitment to truth and fairness in reporting.
Once the product of a newspaper activity class in MCTC’s journalism program, CCN
is now, since 2009, an independent student organization operating within the college’s
Student Life program. The newspaper is student-led, student-produced and student-funded.
In 2005, CCN developed an online presence at www.citycollegenews.com. The web
site has undergone many changes and is now wholly operated by MCTC students. The
newspaper has also developed Facebook and Twitter accounts.
CCN took second place for two-year-college newspapers at the Best of the Midwest
convention in Spring 2014.
